Our Process
Our adoption process is designed to help you and the right dog find each other. Our goal is to place each dog into a permanent, safe, and loving home.
Your First Step to Fur-ever
Complete an Adoption Questionnaire. Potential adopters must be at least 18 years of age.
Step 2 – Let’s Talk!
After receiving your application you’ll be contacted by an adoption counselor.
Step 3 – Home Visit
A GSRNC adoption counselor will conduct a home visit to ensure you have a safe space for your new pet, and discuss which dogs will work best in your home. If you rent, you’ll need a Landlord Permission Agreement which will be provided to you.

Adoption Fee
Since 2001, we’ve rescued and rehomed thousands of German Shepherd Dogs, with an average care cost exceeding $1,000 per dog. To celebrate our 25th Anniversary, we’re offering a special $150 adoption fee* — our original founding fee — from March 1 through December 31, 2026.
Adopt and be part of 25 years of lifesaving work.
*Dogs over 10 years old continue to have a $0 adoption fee.
