Bebe is a stunning 3-year-old German Shepherd with a heart as big as her soulful brown eyes. Found tied to a park bench in San Jose, she leaned gently into her rescuers with quiet trust—and in that moment, they knew she was something special. After years spent outdoors without proper care, Bebe is finally discovering what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family. Read more…
Kendall is an eight-year-old spayed female returned to our organization when her owner passed. The owner had adopted Kendall from us when she was a year old. Kendall is a very soft dog, taking some time to warm up to people. Once she does, she enjoys lots of pets and belly rubs. She will lie quietly by you while you work or watch TV. Kendall walks well on a leash, enjoying a stop to sniff along the way. She is not reactive to dogs or people. Kendall is getting along with her foster brother and sister, and other dogs who visit her foster home, both large and small. She previously lived with cats. Kendall showed some territorial behavior in her past home, though there has been none in her foster home. She is crate trained and potty trained, uses a dog door, and stays off the furniture. She does dig a little and will bark if left outside alone for long periods. Kendall would like a home that will take the time to help her settle in and enjoy the next part of her life. Read more…
Hi, I’m Myrtle—a gentle, soulful, plush coat German Shepherd with a heart that’s just starting to bloom. No one really knows how old I am, but I’m learning that age doesn’t matter nearly as much as feeling safe, loved, and connected. When I first arrived, I was pretty cautious. If another dog even looked at me sideways, I’d quietly back away. But my foster family believed in me—they gave me space, encouragement, and a little confidence boost. Now? I’m feeling brave, and even a little playful! I love being around other dogs, especially after I’ve had a chance to assess them in my own careful way. Once I know it’s safe, I’ll happily engage. Shadow Nose is a perfect sized 53 lb., 3 year old, well-adjusted GSD-mix who was recently diagnosed with maegosophalus*, a big word for she has trouble swallowing food. This condition sounds scary but is easily manageable. Instead of placing her bowl on the floor, Shadow has been taught to eat standing up on her two feet at a doggie table which allows the food to more easily travel to her stomach. It’s actually very cute to watch!!! Her vet and foster are thrilled at Shadow’s resiliency. Honestly, we get the impression Shadow thinks it’s fun too! Read more…
Tara is a beautiful, 70 pound, long legged 5 year old kind, sweet and generous dog who is thriving in her foster home. Tara is smart and curious and is responding well to training. She is crate trained but sleeps quietly on her doggy bed and waits patiently until her family wakes up. Tara has great house manners. She doesn’t chew inappropriately and stays off furniture. In the backyard, she doesn’t dig and isn’t destructive. Tara is not a demanding dog and happily waits until her foster family is ready to play. Read more…
